My first tattoo.

I can't believe I haven't written about my tattoo yet! I actually got it the day Cory Monteith died so I think that's why it slipped my mind to mention it.

My friends were meant to take me to get my tattoo on the Saturday but the place was booked out so I went back Sunday morning with my mum and got it. Surprisingly, the tattoo didn't hurt. It wasn't a comfortable feeling - it did feel like something was going in and out of my skin but it wasn't painful. Afterwards they put the plastic on and taped it so it wouldn't get infected or anything which actually hurt more than the tattoo because it was pulling at my skin awkwardly.

I got an equilateral triangle outline simply because I like it. To me my tattoo symbolises "balance, strength and stability". Triangles are actually one of the strongest shapes. I like my tattoo, it's dainty and perfect for what I wanted. I really want to get one on my other arm that's the same size except facing the other way and coloured in. I'm lucky that my tattoo is kind of hidden most of the time because people asking me what it means would drive me crazy!

Overall, it was a great experience. I think some people are scared of the tattoo artists but mine was great! She was so funny and we just chatted about how we were both scared of the dentist. Would definitely go back to her again.

I'd love to hear about your tattoos if you have any or what you would think of getting! Or maybe you're completely against tattoos altogether, would love to hear why in the comments below.

Love,
Erin

  1. yay! i have been waiting for this post. :)
i love yours - so small and classy. i've wanted a tattoo for a long time - something like a little anchor or bird or the words - "this too shall pass" (i change my mind a lot). go your mum, too! My mum is so against tattoos. She freaked out when I came home with a piercing hahaha.
Did you talk about the design with the artist first or just meet her first on the day? Also, did she try and edit the design? Also, how much was it? :D Sorry, lots of questions. :)

    1. It's been in my drafts for awhile but I just never got around to finishing/posting it!

An anchor would be so cute! I'm tempted to get birds on my wrist but I think I want something else there so I'm waiting haha. All your ideas are awesome, I hope you can get around your mum somehow! My mum wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of me getting one and she definitely didn't understand why I wanted a triangle but she knows how strong-minded and stubborn I am so she just kind of lets me do what I want and supports me (I think she thinks she'd be cut out and not part of my life if she didn't do that). When/where did you get a piercing? I got my ears done when I was 7 and nearly passed out in the shopping centre so I haven't got any more haha.

Usually you submit the picture via email or their website. When I booked mine she just google imaged a triangle and I approved it. Then when I got there on the Sunday my tattoo artist printed it out and kind of made it into a stencil on my arm to get the placement right. I didn't meet her before the day but I'm very glad I got her because she was awesome. If you have a special preference of tattoo artist you can choose who you want when you book.

It was $100 - the standard rate at the place I went to. Full day tattoos are like $350 I think. Only took like 5 minutes once she started tattooing but I waited for around an hour.

Hope that answers all the questions you had :)

    2. Ahh, your mum is sensible then. If only mine would realise that because I'm going to do it, with or without her.

I had my lobes done when I was 16 and then about a month ago I got my helix pierced. (http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m590/hereinspace/asleepykat/springsprung/9_zpsf178a315.png) It's my favourite thing ever. Definitely no regrets! (The only problem is that now I want MORE hahhaaha)

Thanks for the info! The more I learn about the process, the more sure I am that I'm going to do it. :)

    3. Oh that's awesome! Yeah it's easy to get addicted and want more.. I'm trying to avoid that with tattoos but it's not easy :P

  2. I love the way it looks - dainty and very cool! It's great that you had such a pleasant experience because I've heard complete horror stories. I love the idea of small tattoos but I'm too much of a chicken (is that even a correct expression in English?! Sorry!) to do it to be honest.

    1. Thanks a lot!

I definitely asked my friends who had tattoos where I should go and did a bit of research on the place first. I'm glad I got to see the place and decide before I actually got it done. I walked in and it was very sterile and didn't look dodgy at all.

It's definitely an expression in english! :) I don't think I could ever get a massive tattoo but maybe 4 more little ones would be good. I just don't want to get too many at once and become addicted!

  3. Now that is one neat tattoo! I love how you feel about it, to be honest. I never would've thought about 'stability' or 'strength' with triangles. Would you consider getting anymore? I'm just looking at yours and getting pumped about tattoos again.
When I'm legal for one, I am definitely getting star(s) on my left hipbone. I'm a massive fan of stars, as you may know, because to me they not only look great but symbolise finding yourself in life. I believe that they have a deeper, spiritual meaning to be honest. But I won't spam you with anymore words, hah! ;)

    1. Thank you :)

I definitely want to get more! I just need to carefully decide what I want to get so I don't end up looking like the One Direction boys haha.

I love stars too! How long until you're legal to get one?

  4. I have a blue jay on my right, lower, inner arm. My uncle drew it for me so I'm the only one that will ever have that design. And it means that I'm going to try my wings and fly away.

  5. awww I am totally in love with your tattoo! little tattoos are the best! they often possess more meaning than the big ass ones that I totally dislike! can you even imagine tattooing your eyeballs? (I have seen somethhing on telly on that, gross!) why are you scared of the dentist though??

    1. Thanks Kasia! :) I thought a small one was the best idea for my first.

      Oh my god EYEBALLS? Ew.

I've never liked the dentist! I remember being about 4 or 5 and literally running out of the dentist and across the road because I had it so much. My grandfather chased me. I've gotten over it a bit in the last 2 years but I still don't enjoy it. I'm actually terrified of the doctor though. I think because they could tell you ten million things that are wrong with you.
