Losing Weight: Update

Hi everyone! If you follow my blog you might have seen a post a couple of weeks ago where I said I was determined to start trying to lose weight.

It has been going well. I haven't lost a lot of weight (only around a kilo) but I have been exercising a lot more and eating healthier. It doesn't mean I don't have bad days but I really have been trying. The effort I'm putting in doesn't make me go out of my way to eat healthier but it does make me go for walks (I rarely did that before) and second guess whether I really need that bit of chocolate or not. Sometimes I make the right decision.

I'm hoping that by cutting down portion sizes a bit and exercising that I can succeed in making a lifestyle change for the better and lose the weight healthily. I don't want to go on a crazy diet and exercise routine, lose 20 kilos and then put it back on. I really think looking at it as a lifestyle development with minor changes every now and then will work for me in the long run.

If you have any tips for healthy living or weight loss please let me know.

Love,
Erin

  2. you have the right attitude! losing quickly never works - it has to be a permanent change to stick. just a tip though - don't get too obsessed with the numbers. i used to freak out if i gained 200 grams, and let's be real, that's like a glass of water. the weight doesn't necessarily mean much - especially if you take into account muscle mass. as you exercise more, you will gain muscles and lose fat/centimetres yet still weight the same. have you ever tried pilates? it's super dooper fun. check out "blogilates" on youtube. it hurts a hell of a lot, but I owe my abs to it. It was so lovely to lose stomach fat and then find a lovely set of muscles under there. hehehe.

good luck! you can do it! don't expect too much too soon, though. drink water and focus on being healthy and happy. totally wish i could take you for a run! :P

sorry, long comment. i'm just a little bit obsessed with this topic hahahaha :) i could ramble for much longer but i'm going to stop myself here. ;) <3

  3. I really need to try to change my lifestyle as well. It's gotten to the point of catastrophic because I don't do any exercising and I'm so busy with university that I don't have the time or will to eat healthily. I applaud you for your attitude and trying to lose weight more slowly but healthy is so much better and effective in the long term! Good luck, dear! :)

    1. I was the same way during university. Have you heard of the classic thing where all university students gain around 5-15 kilos? It's because we can start drinking and we get into partying and stuff and forget to take care of ourselves (or don't have the time). I've definitely seen it with most of my friends and know it was true for myself as well. I think making little changes slowly and making them habit is the key for me. Yo-yo dieting wouldn't work for me. Luckily I do like healthy food, I just need to balance my meal and control portion size... plus EXERCISE which I never usually do. I've started going on walks every day or two (or three if I'm really busy that week) and it just gets me moving. I live a very sedentary lifestyle unfortunately.

Thanks for the luck, I'm gonna need it! ♥
